Experimenting with ink. I think I found the perfect brush and it came out of a kid’s painting set! Let’s hope it doesn’t fall apart for awhile.
I decided to take a break from the normal illustrations I do and focus on making character designs and this concept piece for a graphic novel, I am planning to tackle. The story itself is coming together and I am slowly going over it with some of my homies to make sure it is not becoming some crazy idea.
I’m hoping to do a more painterly look with it all and hopefully lean more toward an impressionistic look. We’ll have to see how it goes I continue to play with it.
I was at a coffee shop sketching up ideas and characters for the Lean Into Art workshops I am doing this month, when I saw this Philadelphian sitting on the other side of the shop with this pissed off look on his face. He was actually texting someone, I just could never see the phone under his table. I did a quick drawing, just because I loved the expression, his features and also the fact that he was wearing a “puffy vest”.
Honestly, are “puffy vest” still in style?
My wife went to NYC the other day to buy some materials for a project she is about to start. After dropping her off at the bus station, I went to the Dunkin Donuts down the road from us to get some breakfast. I don’t know if Dunkin Donuts breeds interesting looking people but I felt the need to sketch this construction worker and an older lady on the bag they gave me.
There was also a “Hells Angel” looking biker guy in there but did not have a good enough view to really draw anything and really don’t feel like being a creepier and changing my position to get a good view of him. :-P
I would like to continue doing a portrait series of some of the Philadelphians I see here in this awesome city. So stay tuned and hopefully over the next couple of months, I’ll have a nice bunch to show everyone.

I thought I would try to do a celebrity portrait and after watching the move “Flatliners”, I thought I would give one of the Baldwin’s a shot. All the brothers look the same or they have very similar features but if had to name one off the top of their head, they would probably think of Alec Baldwin.
Was thinking of a new piece to illustrate and when I was riding my bike one day, I was almost knocked off the road by the local transit system here in Philadelphia.
I’m sure most cyclist here in the city can relate to this image to some degree. Even my wife has felt like the buses around here were trying to knock her car off the road.
I don’t have any issue with the public transit. Actually, I plan on ditching my car one day to depend more on biking and the transit system to get around. I have even had a nice talk with one of the drivers before. But even though they may be nice, behind the wheel, I’m sure they are filled with road rage.
